The Grand Canyon University Library utilizes the CINAHL Complete Database for a source of scholarly journal articles (Grand Canyon University, n.d.). This database allows searching specific terms or phrases along with specifying if peer reviewed articles are needed. According to the GCU library page, it includes over 1300 different journals to choose from.
The National Library of Medicine also publishes a database which has 30 million citations from published articles in medical journals at PubMed.gov (NIH, n.d.). This also includes peer reviewed articles, which are preferred in researching for university programs.
When searching for evidence based practices in a database, Cochrane Library and the Joanna Briggs Institute are good sources of practice information (Grand Canyon University, n.d.). These are sources for best evidence based practices and contain scholarly evidence behind those practices.
General internet researches will provide one with research articles, but they are not guaranteed peer reviewed or accurate. Journal articles and research articles that are published within trusted medical journals are vetted for accuracy prior to publication. University library databases are harder to maneuver through, but can be filtered to only include peer reviewed articles and to include specific areas of interest (UCMERCED, 2020). A general google search makes it difficult to determine accuracy in information. Google Scholar does include scholarly articles, but many are not free or do not include full articles for use (UCMERCED, 2020). Filters are also very limited in Google Scholar that make it difficult to search specific subject matter.
