1.Authentic Storytelling

Should storytellers, directors, producers, etc. have the right to tell stories of minorities, if they aren’t apart of said minority.

Ex.) A straight cis person directing a film about transgender or LGBTQ rights

– What if they had the help of people within the community?

– Would it be more authentic if a person of the minority was to tell the story?

I just ask this since the director of the documentary I was in; “Changing the Game” did an amazing job of telling my story and two other transgender athletes stories. The director also had an amazing executive producer who happened to be transgender to help guide him through telling our stories.

I wanted to see how others felt if someone completely random asked you if they could make a documentary about your personal endeavors.

2.With the current trends of COVID, baseball finally is back in-season. The games last night consisted of the players wearing masks while they were in the field, as well as fake fans behind home plate. Individuals could pay up to $300 to have their face as one of the fake fans behind home plate. Do you think this style of sports will impact team performances? What are your thoughts on the concept of fake fans in the stands?

Stone, who was convicted of seven felonies — including perjury and obstruction of justice — had been sentenced to 40 months in prison.” -New York Times, 7/13/20

How can one be convicted, especially of obstruction of justice, and then be pardoned? Ignoring all the charges, accusations, and denials in this case, this country was founded on a system of checks and balances throughout the government branches to minimize corruption. Stone was found guilty of Congressional obstruction of justice. Thoughts?
