Your lead teacher just discovered she must be out for the next month and your director is sure that you can handle this task on your own! She is hiring an assistant to help you get started! Use the NAEYC Standards to help you plan.
Your parents know you have been working in the classroom and working with the Facility. However, they don’t really “know” you. Write a letter to your parents introducing yourself. Describe a bit about your background, your experience, and your education.
In your discussion post, include the following:
- A description of yourself (include your background, experience, and education).
- The curriculum you be using and why.
- Explanation of how you will continue to encourage parents as partners.
- Share what you are most excited about for the next month.
Tip From Instructor
Providing an introduction to parents increases trust and connectedness to you and to their children. Being open but professional helps them get to know the real you. You want your introduction to be friendly and professional. The most important part of writing this introduction is that first impressions matter. You want parents to read the letter and leave it feeling that you are authentic, reliable, educated, professional, and well just the best version of YOU!
In your discussion post, include the following:

- Instructor Tip: Who are you? Include a discussion of all the wonderful experience and characteristics that make you, you!
- The curriculum you be using and why
- Instructor Tip: Be really specific here. Parents don’t want a bunch of professional jargon. Describe your curriculum and how you will meet the standards set for the grade/age level.
- Explanation of how you will continue to encourage parents as partners
- Instructor Tip: How will you collaborate with parents to make it a successful year? What opportunities will you give them to communicate and participate?
- Share what you are most excited about for the next month.
- Instructor Tip: What excites you the most and why? What might be some aspects of the job that you are not that eager to experience?
