Unit 5 Purpose, Instructions, Chapter Learning Objectives & Reference
Unit Purpose:
In this unit, we address how diversity and inclusion are currently practiced in a sample of leading corporations recognized for their excellence in managing diverse workforces. Rather than focus on particular interventions or programs, we more broadly examine how successful organizations advance inclusion through their culture, structure, and best practices, and how their experiences have changed the role of HR in their organizations. Also, we approach the discussion of engaging in what could be called inclusive organization development—that is, the full integration of diversity and inclusion (D&I) messages, behaviors, practices, policies, and cultural indicators (that is, what we will collectively call the D&I perspective) into mainstream OD and related industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology-based efforts in organizations. Thus, indicating how leaders can be developed to enhance inclusive leadership behavior and practice and how leadership development can be done in an inclusive way.

Chapter Eight Learning Objectives:
- Explain organizational Human Resource best practices as it relates to diversity and inclusion.
- Define the persistent HR challenges that exist as it relates to diversity and inclusion
Chapter Nine Learning Objectives:
- Discover organization development (OD) and it’s impact on diversity and inclusion.
- Explain how the implementation of a process of planned change works for the purpose of organizational improvement.
- Analyze how to drive D&I as a transformational change effort.
Chapter Ten Learning Objectives:
- Discover leadership development and how it relates to diversity, and inclusion.
- Explain how to fully take account of inclusion in leadership development systems.
- Analyze how leadership development functions in a way that both develops inclusive leaders and is in itself inclusive.
