During my work as a handy man there were many times where I would need to employ some kind of method in order to complete the job. There are many scientific management styles that are available to perform a task. However, the method I would use quite often was the Gantt Chart method, which visually indicates what tasks must be completed at which times in order to complete a project. This chart does this by showing the times and activities that must be completed in various units on the x and y axis of the charts. This type of scientific management method would benefit me often while I worked as a handyman in high school. Most jobs I and were things like plumbing and electrical work. So, I would have to sometimes set glue, or other parts of the job would take time to complete. So, by having a chart that would precisely figure out when all task would be completed and then I could go on to the next became the greatest tool I could have.

According to Williams (2018) Frederick W. Taylor is considered the “Father of Scientific Management,” and his theory and studies helped him to create the best way to increase workloads and workflows by applying the principles of enhanced efficiency and prosperity which will benefit employers as well as employees. As stated, scientific management is based on “thoroughly studying and testing different work methods to indentify the best, most efficient way to complete a job” (Williams, 2018, p. 25).

Taylor’s scientific management theory includes four principles which can be applied to everything is done at your job or at your home. For example, let’s say that you need to do your laundry, cook your dinner, and complete/submit your assignment within five hours. How will you apply “Taylor’s Four Principles of Scientific Management” to efficiently and effectively get everything done on time? Well, keep in mind that time is the essence, and finding the best way to complete the job is the objective here. The best way, to efficiently complete these tasks, is done by starting with getting the first load of clothing ready to wash while selecting the ingredients needed for your meal to be cooked. After that, you can startup the washer machine, prepare and mix the ingredients for your meal, put the ingredients to cook on the stove, and start reading the chapter due for your assignment. Because you will be multi-tasking at the same time by doing laundry, cooking, and reading, you will be able to utilize your time efficiently and effectively to finish your chores and school assignments on time and within the five hours allowed.
