Two assignments
Question Description
Think back over your childhood. What informal, (outside of school), literacy and math experiences did you have while growing up? Based on what you’ve learned, how do you think those experiences contributed to your academic progress after you started school? Which concepts and/or strategies, from the lesson, did you use in school? Which strategy you could use now? How?

Getting parents involved in school is always a challenge. In elementary schools there is far more involvement than in middle and it drops off again in high school. Sadly, there are often more teachers in the cheering stands for some sports or activities than parents. Why do educators want parents involved? What does the research say? Share a favorite parent involvement activity. Should we pay teachers to attend these activities or just expect them to work for free?
