- Reviewthe following scenarios of medical deception provided and rank themwith commentary regarding appropriate behavior (most appropriate toleast appropriate):
- A physician intentionally submits faultyinformation to an insurance company in an attempt to help a sick patientpay for needed healthcare services.
- A physician recognizes thepatient has psychosomatic symptoms and prescribes a placebo pill inhopes that the emotional relief of the placebo will help the patientrecover (thus saving the patient from possible treatments which would bemore invasive and/or extensive).
- A physician does not providefull disclosure of a surgical procedure because he/she suspects thepatient is not emotionally stable enough to handling all the details ofthe surgery, treatment and recovery.
